Some key factors in changing the obesity rate is making sure that people are truly ready to lose weight because weight loss takes a great amount of dedication. People must be screened for coexisting illnesses, such as diabetes, orthopedic problems, cardiac disease, psychological disorders such as binge eating disorder or depression, and social and cultural influences (Baechle, Thomas and Earle, Roger, Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning, National Strength and Conditioning Association).
